ELGIN AVENUE BREAKDOWN (REVISITED)
Record Store Day 2015 Release. Double red vinyl. ‘Elgin Avenue Breakdown’ was a compilation album of the band’s recordings originally released in 1981 because of The Clash’s popularity. Based on the CD re-issue by EMI in 2005 with liners by Allan Jones and detailed notes on each track by the band’s drummer Richard Dudanski. This album was previously available on CD but not on vinyl. The 101ers were a pub rock band from the 1970s, notable as being the band that Joe Strummer left to join The Clash. The group played at free festivals, such as Stonehenge, and established itself on the London pub rock circuit prior to the advent of punk. Formed in May 1974, they made their performing debut under the name El Huaso and the 101 All Stars. The name eventually shortened to 101ers. This collection features the demos, studio recordings, BBC sessions, and live audience tapes.
SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE is always good to swing by.
They’ve got Lee Perry, Marvin Gaye, Northern Soul, Rhoda Daka, Sex Pistols and many more RSD exclusives. They always throw a big party outside which is what I’m looking forward to.
